MARGARET LORAINE CANNON FREELS

MARGARET LORAINE CANNON FREELS, a resident of the District 15 Community and wife of Mike Freels, died at 3:45 P.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at her residence on Armour Drive. She was 50 years of age and died following an extended illness of one year.

Funeral services for Mrs. Freels were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, November 14th at the Mount Olive Baptist Church on Jernigan Road with Rev. Don Hammonds, Pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Freels was born January 11, 1958 in Fayette County the daughter of Lemuel Cannon and Betty Thompson Cannon. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and Gateway School. She was married April 8, 1974 to Mike Freels, who survives.

Mrs. Freels was a devoted homemaker throughout her life and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She was an active member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and will be remembered for her pleasant disposition and her optimism and determination during her lengthy illness. A family oriented person, Mrs. Freels cherished the friendship of her family and church members and served as an inspiration to others.

A person of strong faith, she loved her grandchildren and enjoyed her pet dog "Little Bit".

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Freels is survived by a daughter, Ginger Gansman of Pickwick, TN; two sons, David Ray Freels and Gary Wayne Freels (Jennifer Brooks), both of Somerville; her parents, Lemuel and Betty Cannon of Somerville; her sister, Sarah Jane Roberts of Pickwick, TN; four brothers: Leroy Cannon of Somerville; Lemuel "June Bug" Cannon, Jr. of Whiteville; Thomas Eugene "Tommy" Cannon and Billy Joe Cannon, both of Somerville and three grandchildren: Brandon Glenn Preslar, Breanna Nicole Preslar and Lilly Ann Freels.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Freels on September 19, 1989.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Dennis Cannon, Bubba Johnson, Luther Scruggs, Sammy Simpson, Jimmy Swain and John White.

Honorary casketbearers were Donnie Cannon and Larry Cannon.
