Marian Lewis Culver Snell, age 80, resident of Memphis and wife of the late Wayne A. Snell, departed this life Friday evening, July 8, 2016 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Snell were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Randy Lockley, pastor of the Christ Church in Arlington, officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Snell was born September 5, 1935 in the Macon Community. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married June 16, 1951 to Wayne A. Snell. She was employed with Ramada Inn and other local hotels as a waitress and banquet hostess for over 20 years before her retirement. Mrs. Snell was a lifelong resident of the West Tennessee area and a member of the Macon United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, doing picture puzzles, watching NASCAR, taking care of her grandchildren and in earlier years, snow skiing.
Mrs. Snell is survived by three sons, Victor Snell and his wife, Kathy, of Cranberry Township, PA, Louis Snell of Memphis, Paul Snell of Memphis; two sisters, Ola Davis of Oak Ridge, TN, Carolyn Johnson of Atlanta, GA; her brother, Garner Culver and his wife, Beverly, of Williston; seven grandchildren, Brent Snell, Jake Snell, Lindsey Snell, Lauren DuBois, Chelsea Stage, Shannon Snell, Montgomery Snell; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne A. Snell, who died January 23, 2008; and her parents, Lewis Montgomery Culver and Coula Belle Houston Culver.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
