Mark Dewayne Hughes, age 53, resident of the Mason Community and retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, departed this life Friday afternoon, April 10, 2015 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Hughes were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, April 18th at the Grace Baptist Church in Braden. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Hughes was born May 26, 1961, the son of Emma Sue Edwards Hughes and the late Franklin Junior Hughes. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. He was employed as a highway maintenance worker for the Tennessee Department of Transportation for eight years before retiring for health reasons. He was a member of the Assembly of God and enjoyed coon, rabbit and turkey hunting, fishing, riding around and special times with his family.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his mother, Emma Sue Edwards Hughes of Mason; his sister, Myra Robbins of Brighton; two nieces, Samantha Jackett, Amanda Cook; two nephews, Joey Cox, Dustin Robbins; his longtime companion, Debbie Lemmon and her two daughters, Shelly Pilkington, Stephanie Pugh; and two great nieces and two great nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Josh Cook, Amanda Cook, Kenny McCain, Tony Walls and Randy Pugh.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude's Coon Hunt, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
