Martha Louise (Oliver) Campbell

April 8, 1930 — March 15, 2014

Martha Louise Oliver Campbell, resident of the Oakland Community and wife of Raymond Edward Campbell, departed this life Saturday morning, March 15, 2014 at the Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis where she had been a resident for two days. She was 83 years of age and died following a brief illness.

A Local Visitation for Family and Friends was from 6 to 8 Monday evening, March 17th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Campbell was conducted at 9 A.M. Wednesday, March 19th at the St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Paducah, Kentucky with Father Brian Roby officiating. Interment followed in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West at Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Campbell was born April 8, 1930 in Evansville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elliott McKinney Oliver and Edith Irene Glover Cooper. She received her education in the Vanderburgh County, Indiana Public School System and was married April 30, 1951 to Raymond Edward Campbell, a retired employee of the Federal Government, who survives.

Mrs. Campbell was a Catholic and was a homemaker throughout her life. She had a lifelong love for music and her interests included reading, traveling, shopping and old movies. She was a former resident of Memphis and Bowling Green, Kentucky before moving to Fayette County ten years ago.

In addition to her husband of almost 63 years, Mrs. Campbell is survived by two daughters, Janet Lynne Campbell Hamm (Matthew) of Lakeland, Dr. Rebecca Jo Campbell Dinkins (Burton Loyd) of Enville, Tennessee; two sons, Cary Patrick Campbell of Wausau, Wisconsin, Dr. Ronald Mark Campbell (Melissa Kae) of Auburn, Alabama; two half-brothers, Donald Ray Cooper of Hiawassee, Georgia, Jerry Tom Cooper of Evansville, Indiana; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her half-sister, Clara Catherine Cooper Berg and her half-brother, James David Cooper.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Berton Loyd Dinkins, Jonathan Michael Dinkins, Capt. Paul Douglas Dinkins, Benjamin Clayton Campbell, Matthew Hamm, Matthew Barber and Nathan Tognetti.
