Martha Janice (Brown) Hoskins

Martha Janice Brown Hoskins, longtime resident of the Somerville Community departed this life Thursday morning, September 12, 2013 at the National Health Care Center in Somerville where she resided for two years. She was 73 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Hoskins were conducted at 3 P.M. Monday, September 16th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Willie Raines of New Albany, Mississippi officiating. Special music was provided by Janice Doss and Kyndle McMahan. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Hoskins was born September 3, 1940 in the Rosemark Community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Brown and Bessie Abernathy Davis. She received her education in the Tipton and Fayette Public School Systems and had been a resident of the Somerville Community for the past 41 years.
Mrs. Hoskins was a homemaker throughout her life and was a longtime member of the Somerville Church of God where she participated in numerous church activities that included singing. Shopping, yard sales and supporting her grandchildren in their softball activities were favorite pastimes. She was much loved by her family and friends.
Mrs. Hoskins is survived by three daughters, Lisa Wasmund (Eddie) of Eads, Patricia Sills (Doug) of Somerville, Cindy Francis (Joel) of Oakland; a niece that she considered her daughter, Tammy Harris of Somerville; and four grandchildren, Allen Wasmund, Hunter Wasmund, Ethan Sills and Zoe Francis.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Prather, Mary Ruth Harris and three brothers, David Brown, Billy Brown and Al Brown.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Allen Wasmund, Hunter Wasmund, Ethan Sills, Josh Smith, Bryan Hoskins and Lance Hoskins.
Honorary casketbearers were Eddie Wasmund, Doug Sills, Joel Francis and Michael “Skippy” Wyse.
