Martha Christine Hogan Thompson, resident of the Laconia Community and wife of the late Elzie Thompson died Sunday morning, January 13, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville where she was a patient for one day. She was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Thompson were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, January 21st at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Jim Perry of Moscow officiating. Interment followed in the Belmont Cemetery in the Belmont Community of Fayette County near Mason. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Thompson was born January 14, 1926 in the Belmont Community of Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave Hogan and Josephine Perry Hogan. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She was married to Elzie Thompson, Fayette County farmer, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker throughout her life and was Baptist in faith. She enjoyed animals and flowers and was a kind, gentle person who loved her family and her community.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by three daughters, Shirley Thompson of Laconia, Betty Sue Thompson of Laconia, Tenna Thompson of Oakland; five sons, Richard Thompson of Macon, David Thompson of Somerville, Billy Thompson of Whiteville, Bobby Thompson of Somerville, Robert Thompson of Somerville; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by three sons, Ernest Hogan, Junior Thompson and Charles Thompson.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jimmy Wayne Busby, Jr., Alan Thompson, Jimmy Wayne Busby, Sr., Michael Berretta, Shane Muntz and Michael Cash.
Honorary casketbearers were Jerry Glover, Bobby Thompson and Robert Thompson.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Belmont Cemetery Association, 855 Belmont Road, Mason, TN 38049 or to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
