Martha "MawMaw" (Hartin) Roy

Martha Hartin Roy, known to all as “MawMaw”, age 61, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of the late Mark Roy, departed this life Wednesday evening, February 13, 2019.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Roy was held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Drew Murphy, pastor at Fayette Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Martha was born April 25, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late John Hartin and Mary Napper Hartin. She was a graduate of Bartlett High School and was married to Mark Roy, who preceded her in death in October of 2014. She was employed as a construction superintendent for many years and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Greenfield, Tennessee. “MawMaw” loved serving others and touching their lives, and special times with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, watching the Hallmark Channel and reading.

Mrs. Roy is survived by her daughter, Amanda Vaughan (Jody) of Oakland, TN; her son, David Pentecost (Anna) of Clarksville, TN; her stepdaughter, Jessica Roy of Pine Bluff, AR; four sisters, Linda Hartin of Somerville, TN, Joan Knichel (John) of Olive Branch, MS, Mary Graves of Marion, AR, Annette Carlisle of Southaven, MS; two brothers, Richard Davis (Susan) of Somerville, TN, Pete Hartin (Brenda) of Houston, TX; and ten grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Roy Pentecost; her sister, Patricia Mann; and her brother, Wayne Davis.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Steven Mann, Phil Chamberlain, Jr., Phil Chamberlain, III, Barry Jernigan, Greg Bridgers, Steve Graves and Josh Baker.
