Marty Rieck

Maude (Marty) Clark Rieck, resident of the Moscow Community, retired beauty advisor and wife of Arlyn L. Rieck died Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012 at her residence. She was 75 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Rieck were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, December 21st at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Bobby Williams, pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church officiating. Personal remarks and reflections were given by Kirk Clark. Interment followed in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Rieck was born August 31, 1937 in Yazoo County, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Clark and Mary Jernigan Clark. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and continued her education at the University of Memphis. She was married May 9, 1965 to Arlyn L. Rieck, a retired drywall contractor for the Rieck family-owned business, “Complete Drywall Service” in Bartlett, who survives.

Mrs. Rieck had served as a beauty advisor and make-up artist for Memphis department stores for a number of years before her retirement in 1988. She was a talented creative artist who enjoyed art and painting and was a member of the Memphis Decorative Artists Association.

She will be remembered for her love of beautiful things and for a deep devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Embroidery and crocheting were favorite pastimes as long as health permitted. She was a devoted member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church and had been a resident of the Hickory Grove Community in Fayette County since 1999.

In addition to her husband of 47 years, Mrs. Rieck is survived by two daughters, Catherine Harlan of Memphis, Sherry Clark (Kirk) of Arlington; three sons, Bud Barnett of Arlington, Mark Barnett of Memphis, Arlyn Wayne Rieck (Gina) of Olive Branch, MS; her sister, Norma Shoemaker of Memphis; two brothers, Paul Clark of Memphis, Gary Clark of Millington; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Rieck was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Butler.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Arlyn Rieck, Kevin Rieck, Khris Rieck, Mark Thomas Barnett, Russell Butler and Landon Thweatt.
