Mary Kathleen Ball Arnold, resident of the Williston Community, retired office manager for Somerville Landfill and wife of Robert Arnold departed this life Wednesday morning, June 26, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital in Germantown where she had been a patient for six hours. She was 68 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Private Family Services for Mrs. Arnold were conducted at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment for Mrs. Arnold will be in the Union Bridge Methodist Church Cemetery at Union Bridge, Maryland. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Arnold was born April 11, 1945 in Independence, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Ball and Edna Frances Arnold Ball. She received her education in the Winthrop, Iowa Public School System and was married February 5, 1966 to Robert Wayne Arnold, a retired employee of the Pepsi-Cola Company in Collierville, who survives.
Mrs. Arnold was a member of the United Methodist Church and been a residence of the Williston Community since 1992. She served as office manager for the Somerville Landfill from 1996 until retiring for health reasons in February of this year. She was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed out of door activities that included gardening and walking in the woods that surrounded her home. Being with family and friends was an important part of Mrs. Arnold’s life.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, Mrs. Arnold is survived by her daughter, Melanie Rae Arnold Carmichael of Westminster, MD; her brother, James Ball of Independence, IA; her father-in-law, Melvin E. Arnold of Independence, IA; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, David Allen Arnold who died May 5, 2012.
