LOU GREER
1929 -2010
Mary Lou Barker Greer, resident of the Williston Community and wife of Charlie Greer died Monday evening July 26, 2010 at the National Health Care Center in Somerville. She was 80 years of age and died following a four year illness.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Greer were conducted at 2 PM Wednesday, July 28th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Tony Watkins officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Greer was born November 4, 1929 in Helena, Arkansas and moved at an early age with her family to Fayette County. She was educated in the Moscow Public School System and graduated from the Fayette County High School in Somerville. Mrs. Greer was married in 1950 to Charles William “Charlie” Greer of Fayette County, retired Long Distance Truck Operator and U.S. Naval Veteran, who survives. Mr. and Mrs. Greer celebrated their 60

Wedding Anniversary on June 15
th
of this year.
Mrs. Greer served as Manager/Hostess for the Bill & Jim’s Restaurant on Madison Avenue in Memphis for over 40 years before her retirement. She was a Christian who enjoyed golf and music with memberships in the Somerville Country Club and Somerville Moose Lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Greer were residents of Memphis for a number of years and had returned to Fayette County to live in the Williston Community 25 years ago.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Greer is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Randy Douglass, Dan Durham, Hank Franck, Jay Kemper, Chris “Smiley” Parker and J. T. Stamper.
Honorary casketbearers were Max Burch, Charlene Horton, C. J. Smith, Bobby Tapp, Charles Taylor and Gerald Taylor.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
