Mary Lee “Maw” Burchette Hayes, resident of the Williston Community and retired foreman for Troxel Manufacturing Company, died Sunday morning, September 11, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Memphis. She was 78 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Hayes were at 3 P.M. Wednesday, September 14th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel of Somerville. Interment was private and arrangements are provided by the Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Moscow, Mrs. Hayes was born January 31, 1933 to the late Boyd Henry Burchette and the late Anner Lee McClure Burchette. Mrs. Hayes was educated in the Fayette County School System.
Mrs. Hayes was a foreman for Troxel Manufacturing Company for 35 years before her retirement in the 1970’s. A Christian, she will be remembered for her love of nature, fishing and running trout lines. Mrs. Hayes enjoyed playing video games, drawing and working with flowers.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by three daughters, Sharlette Miller of Hickory Valley, Nora Hayes Byars of Oakland, Mary Ellen Hayes of Williston, her son, Doyle Sanford Edwards, Sr. of Paris, TN, four sisters, Doris Edwards of Red Banks, MS, Patricia Matheson of Phoenix, AZ, Paula Campbell of Oakland, Beverly Hamm of Hickory Withe, four brothers, Jerry Burchette of Saulsbury, Larry Burchette of Saulsbury, Johnny Matheson of Roanoke, VA, Stanley Matheson of Somerville, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
