Mary Lee (Duncan) Loines

July 15, 1934 — April 19, 2013

Mary Lee Duncan Loines, resident of Vilonia, Arkansas, former resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Tom Loines departed this life Friday afternoon, April 19, 2013 at the Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas where she had been a patient for 12 days. She was 78 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Loines were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, April 25th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Ken Jordan of the Friendship Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Loines was born July 15, 1934 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Duncan and Lila Creason Duncan. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a graduate of Whitehaven High School. She was married March 6, 1953 to Benjamin Thomas “Tom” Loines, who preceded her in death on March 27, 2002.

Mr. and Mrs. Loines served as houseparents for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home in Bartlett for 20 years before their retirement. She was a member of Somerville First United Methodist Church and most recently a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Conway. After the death of Mr. Loines, Mrs. Loines moved to Vilonia, Arkansas, where she had resided for the past seven years.

Mrs. Loines was an avid collector of lighthouses of all sizes and descriptions and will be remembered for her love and compassion of children. She served as a church choir member in earlier years and was also active in her church bible study program as long as health permitted.

Mrs. Loines is survived by two daughters, Sherry Harris of Vilonia, AR, Lisa Webb (Mark) of Olive Branch, MS; two sons, Steve Loines (Charlotte) of Somerville, Ron Loines (Betty) of Atlanta, GA; her brother, Raymond Duncan (Pat) of Southaven, MS; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Steve Loines, Ron Loines, Keith Loines, Ian Webb, Clint Harris and Stephen Harris.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
