Mary Alice Wilkinson Terry, 82, peacefully passed away on July 24, 2024. She was the daughter of James and Mary Louise Wilkinson.
She was predeceased by her husband, Larry E. Terry, Sr., granddaughter, Mary Gwendolyn Terry and siblings, Gail Reynolds and Fred Wilkinson. She is survived by sons, Larry E. Terry, Jr. (Sarah) and William Scott Terry (Christine), granddaughters, Lauren Rouse and Samantha Terry and sister, Tommie Morton.
Mary was known as a selfless individual, kind and welcoming to all. Church was a very important factor in her life. A true country wife and mother, she was willing to work tirelessly alongside her family and friends. She was an accomplished fence jumper when snakes were around and was known to lock everyone out when house cleaning was the task at hand.
Mary always looked forward to garden season. Not many store-bought canned vegetables were ever opened in her kitchen. Her cooking and dessert capabilities were second to none. There wasn’t a riding lawn mower she didn’t like but a ‘Bad Boy’ was the mower of mowers to her. Other than coffee, some neighbors would state that ‘cut grass’ was her drug of choice.
Mary was a long-time school bus driver for Bartlett Schools and was honored as Shelby County School Bus Driver of the Year for 1991-1992.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Robinwood Retirement Resort, 2795 Kirby Whitten Rd. on Thursday, August 8 at 2:00 P.M. with visitation at 1:30 P.M.
