Mary C. Moorman

Mary Catherine Moorman, a resident of Washington, D.C. with extended family members throughout Fayette County, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, March 12, 2014 at the Providence Hospital in Washington, DC where she had been a patient for one day. She was 39 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.

Services of Remembrance for Ms. Moorman were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, March 18th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. G.K. Ballard officiating. Interment followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery at Mason. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Ms. Moorman was born May 10, 1974 in Memphis, the daughter of Starlon R. Moorman, Sr. and the late Virna Mae Jackson Moorman. She received her education in the Memphis City Public School System and was a resident of the Fayette, Haywood and Shelby County areas for a number of years before moving to the District of Columbia 22 years ago.

Ms. Moorman was a Christian and had been employed in the food service industry in the Washington, D.C. area. She will be remembered as a person who enjoyed sports and horses with a love for all animals. As a child, her aspiration was to be a veterinarian and this love of animals continued throughout her life.

Ms. Moorman is survived by her father, Ray Moorman (Mary R.) of Memphis; two sisters, Virna Rae Greene (Billy) of Burlison, TN, Cynthia J. Aholt of Scottsdale, AZ; and four brothers, Timothy Allen Moorman of Memphis, Robert Bruce Moorman (Tamara) of Memphis, Joseph Daniel Moorman (Chelsea) of Memphis and Starlon Ray Moorman, Jr. of Pensacola, FL.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Kaye Hill.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to Lakeside Behavioral Health System, 2911 Brunswick Road, Memphis, TN 38133.
