Mary Frances "Fran" (Anderson) Gaither

Mary Frances "Fran" Anderson Gaither, age 82, resident of Memphis and wife of the late Robert Lee "Bob" Gaither, departed this life Thursday morning, December 31, 2015 in Bartlett.

Graveside Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Gaither will be conducted at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Williston. A visitation for Mrs. Gaither will be from 1 to 3 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Gaither was born November 14, 1933 in Laconia. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married June 2, 1952 to Robert Lee “Bob” Gaither. She was part of a Military family that had traveled over the United States and Germany. Mrs. Gaither was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, raising her children and Elvis Presley.

Known to her family as “Nanny”, Mrs. Gaither is survived by two daughters, Mary Elaine Scott (Raymond Hugh Scott, Jr.) of Memphis, Beverly Ann Gaither of Arlington; her son, Robert Louis Gaither (Mary Gaither) of Covington; four sisters, Alice Hayley of Henderson, Joan Gilmore of Plumerville, AR, Sandy Adams of Plumerville, AR, Linda Riley of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Rex Anderson of Plumerville, AR, Randy Anderson of Tallahassee, FL; five grandchildren, Samantha Street, Jennifer Ford, Jennifer Williams, Christopher Unthank, Robert Louis Unthank; and six great grandchildren, Garrett Street, Matthew Street, Charlotte Ford, Evie Ford, Amy Claire Ford and Baeleigh Unthank.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee “Bob” Gaither, who died February 14, 2004 and her parents, Richard Arthur Anderson and Ann Elizabeth Summers Anderson.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jeff Street, Jimmy Williams, Christopher Unthank, Robert Unthank, Jimmy McMahan and Wade Morrison.

Honorary pallbearers will include Greg Ford and Jimmy Dawson.
