Mary Kathryn "Susie" (Stewart) Jenkins

Mary Kathryn "Susie" Stewart Jenkins, age 90, resident of the Somerville Community, retired owner of Susie's Dress Shop and wife of the late Quinton Garvis Jenkins, departed this life Monday afternoon, February 2, 2015 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Jenkins were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, February 5th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Will Barnes, pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Rossville, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Jenkins was born July 13, 1924 in El Paso, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Elias Stewart and Trubelle Kirby Stewart. She received her education in the Wilson County, Arkansas Public School System. She was married April 11, 1941 to Quinton Garvis Jenkins, who preceded her in death on February 16, 2009.

Mrs. Jenkins was the owner of Susie's Dress Shop on the town square in Somerville since the late 1960's and was a longtime resident of the Somerville Community. She was a member of Feathers Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville and enjoyed music, dancing and bird watching.

Mrs. Jenkins is survived by two sons, Richard Stewart Jenkins (Regina) of Somerville, Rodney Steven Jenkins (Patricia) of Jackson, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Sandy Burnette, Sharon Bishop, Russell Jenkins, Ryan Jenkins, Ronald Jenkins, Joe Jenkins, Josh Jenkins; twelve great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Quinton Jenkins.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Ken Burnette, Ryan Jenkins, Joe Jenkins, Josh Jenkins, Russell Jenkins and Ronald Jenkins.
