Mary Lillian Byrd

Mary Lillian Farley Byrd, age 86, resident of Rossville, Tennessee and wife of Wayne Byrd, departed this life Monday afternoon, December 17, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Byrd was held at 1 P.M. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Russell Gourley officiating. Interment followed in the Reid Cemetery at Eads. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mary Lillian was born January 4, 1932 in Fayette County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Sterling Hamner Farley and the late Annie Bell Scott Farley. She was a graduate of Collierville High School Class of 1949 and was a lifelong resident of the Rossville and Fisherville communities. She was married July 16, 1950 to Harold Reid who preceded her in death in August of 1999 and was married November 27, 2001 to Wayne Maurice Byrd. Lillian was the owner and a hairdresser at Lil’s Beauty Shop in Fisherville for many years before her retirement and attended Collierville Baptist Church for the last 18 years. She was a member of the Rossville Garden Club and enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, playing dominoes, quilting and collecting FROGS for her ministry.

Mrs. Byrd is survived by her husband, Wayne Byrd of Rossville, TN; her daughter, Rebecca Feathers (Steve) of Rossville, TN; two sons, Frank F. Reid (Pat) of Rossville, TN, Paul S. Reid (Kecia) of Rossville, TN; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Hewlett; her brother, Gordon L. Farley; and her grandson, Nicholas “Nick” Reid who died in December of 2016.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Brent Feathers, Jay Kimbrough, Nick Fayette, Justin Kimbrough, Kody Kimbrough and Jason Fayette.
