Mary Margaret Wright Trotter

MARY MARGARET WRIGHT TROTTER, longtime resident of the Oakland Community and wife of the late Thomas Howard Trotter, died at 10 P.M. Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at the residence of a son at Batesville, MS. She was 99 years of age and died following an illness of several months.
Funeral services for Mr. Trotter were conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday, February 9th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. John Stewart of Oxford, MS, officiating. Interment followed in the Oakland Cemetery at Oakland. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Trotter was born November 2, 1908, in Memphis, the daughter of the late Robert Wright and the late Ethel Tucker Wright. She was educated in the Shelby County public school system and was married January 27, 1927 to Thomas Howard Trotter of Oakland who preceded her in death in 1986.
Mrs. Trotter was a homemaker and had been a resident of the Oakland Community since 1941. She was a member of the Lambert Community Church and the Fayette County Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Trotter was one of the oldest members of her community at the time of her death and remained independent living in her own home until recently moving to Batesville to reside with a son and daughter-in-law. Her greatest pleasure was time with her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener throughout her life and enjoyed fishing in her ponds. She will be remembered for the love that she gave to her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Trotter is survived by her children, Linelle Huddin of Chiloquin, OR, Thomas R. Trottter (Robbie) of Batesville, MS, T.H. Trotter (Martha) of Marion, TX; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Trotter was preceded in death by her sons, John H. Trotter, Robert K. Trotter and grandchildren, Linda Trotter Snyder, Alice Lough, Timothy Trotter, David Trotter, Thomas Trotter and Michael Trotter.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were John Trotter, Jr., Anthony Trotter, Butch Trotter, Charles Trotter, Steve Trotter and Rusty Perkins.
The family request that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
