Matthew Richard Namishia

Somerville, Tennessee

Matthew Richard "Dick" Namishia, resident of the Somerville Community, United States Navy Veteran and husband of Anne Moonen Namishia, departed this life Monday afternoon, September 15, 2014 at his residence. He was 81 years of age and died following an extended illness.

A Recitation of the Rosary was conducted at 7:30 P.M. Monday, September 22nd at the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville. Services of Remembrance for Mr. Namishia were conducted at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 23rd at the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Stephen Kenny officiating. Interment with Military Honors was at 1:45 P.M. Tuesday, September 23rd in the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery near Germantown.

Mr. Namishia was born October 10, 1932 in Syracuse, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew J. Namishia and Tillie Kianka Namishia. He received his education in the New York Public School System and the LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York. He served his country in the United States Navy as a young person on the USS New Jersey during the Korean War. He was married December of 1962 to the former Anne Moonen, who survives.

Mr. Namishia was a resident of the Somerville Community for 42 years and was of the Roman Catholic faith. He enjoyed special times with his grandchildren and outdoor activities that included fishing, golfing and hunting.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mr. Namishia is survived by five sons, Richard Namishia (Anne) of Somerville, Keith Namishia (Cheryl) of Byhalia, MS, Matthew Namishia (Kathy) of Wake Forest, NC, Mark Namishia of Charlotte, NC, Gerald Namishia of Bullhead, AZ; two daughters, Laura Schwartz (Larry) of Midland, TX, Karen Hardcastle (Walter) of Kingman, AZ; his sister, Mary Jane Sanpiere (James) of Detroit, MI; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Kevin Treadway, Timothy Oaks, Joseph Gryder, Scott Graham, David Holt and Jimmie Cain.
