Mavis Oline (Scott) Darnell

January 26, 1930 — October 6, 2017

Mavis Oline Scott Darnell, age 87, resident of the Macon Community and wife of the late Arthur Ray Darnell, departed this life Friday morning, October 6, 2017 at her residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Darnell were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Ray Peters officiating. Remarks were given by Donnie Joe Peak and congregational singing will be led by Grey Perkins. Interment followed in the Macon Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Darnell was born January 26, 1930 in Ashland, Mississippi. She received her education in Saulsbury in Hardeman County, Tennessee, and was married November 8, 1947 to Arthur Ray Darnell. She was employed as a factory worker for A.H. Witt Company before her retirement. Mrs. Darnell was a member of the Macon Church of Christ and she enjoyed gardening, flowers and camping. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Darnell is survived by two daughters, Linda Hillman (Richard) of Macon, TN, Sherry Cobb (James) of Vermontville, MI; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Peltonen, Laurie Cobb, Susan Maddox, April Bernstein, Brandy Wimmer, David Cobb, Erika Napper; and eight great grandchildren, Jacob Platania, Dalton Wimmer, Reese Bernstein, Chase Wimmer, Mavie Bernstein, Victoria Wimmer, Ian Napper and Bradley Hillman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Ray Darnell who died May 4, 2016; her parents, James Lynzy Scott and Willie Bama Hensley Scott; four brothers, L.C. Scott, Melvin Scott, W.C. Scott, Bob Scott; and two grandsons, Cody Hillman and Joseph Cobb.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were John Maddox, Christian Wimmer, Mike Peltonen, Ronnie Morris, Mike Graves and Jeff Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Bailey Houston, David Cobb and Mike Bernstein.
