Max Burl Patterson, Sr.

Max Burl Patterson, Sr., age 75, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Mary Eilene Patterson, departed this life Wednesday morning, March 28, 2018 at his residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Patterson were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Clinton Buck officiating. Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery at Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Patterson was born May 7, 1942 in Fordyce, Arkansas. He was a graduate of Watson Chapel High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and served his country in the United States Army. He was employed for 30 years at a policeman with the City of Memphis, retiring as a Captain. He was also a pilot, farmer and a member of the Bomb Squad and Crime Scene Unit before his retirement. He was a member of the ACRE (Association of City of Memphis Retired Employees). Mr. Patterson was also a pilot, farmer, gardener, serviceman, hunter, fisherman, beekeeper, craftsman and engineer throughout his life.

Mr. Patterson leaves to cherish his memory his wife who he married September 13, 2007, Mary Eilene Davis Patterson of Somerville, TN; three daughters, Theresa Jernigan of Clarksdale, MS, Judy Blackwell of Clarksdale, MS, Elizabeth P. Neyman (Terry) of Collierville, TN; his son, Max B. Patterson, Jr. (Patti) of Williston, TN; two sisters, Billie Britton of California, Frances Lippens of Phoenix, AZ; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Waldo Patterson and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Nichols Studdard; three sisters, Eulean Patterson, Josephine Patterson, Merdastine Patterson; and two brothers, Gary Patterson and Jimmy Patterson.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Griffin Gray, Josh Gower, Carey Jernigan, Hunter Page, Cliff Edmiston and Terry Neyman. Honorary pallbearers were Tristan Martinez, Chris Blackwell and Bryan Blackwell.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fraternal Order of Police, 701 Marriott Drive, Nashville, TN 37214 or Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 2355 Union Drive, Somerville, TN 38068.
