May Bell White

March 1, 1938 — September 25, 2011

May Bell Thompson White, resident of the Somerville Community, former employee of Tennessee Foods and wife of the late William White departed this life Sunday morning, September 25, 2011 at her home. She was 73 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services Honoring the Life of Mrs. White were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 28th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Rodney VanWinkle, pastor of the Faith Church of God in Somerville officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Larry Adair and Bro. Willie Raines. Interment followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery in the Williston Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. White was born March 28, 1938 in the Somerville Community the daughter of the former Nannie Elizabeth Cannon and the late Lester Thompson. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was the wife of the late William White of Fayette County, who died in 1994.
Mrs. White was a dedicated homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed in the Production Department of the Tennessee Foods Corporation in Rossville. She was a lifelong resident of the Fayette County area and was a dedicated member of the Faith Church of God in Somerville, participating in numerous church activities throughout her life.
She was known for her devotion to her church and her family and her interests included caring for her pet birds and growing flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed special times with her family and favorite pastimes included local sports and preparing food for family members and church activities.
Mrs. White is survived by four daughters, Pat Blair of Whiteville, Gail Glover of Somerville, Brenda Blair of Victoria, MS, Charlotte Brents of Memphis, two sons, William White, Jr. of Somerville, John White of Somerville, her mother, Nannie Cannon Smith of Somerville, her sister, Loraine King of Somerville, three brothers, Ricky Smith of Memphis, Ron Smith of Cookeville, TN, Mike Smith of Memphis, 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her father, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Lee White and her brother, Luther Cannon.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Billy Blair, Michael Glover, David Adair, Johnny Thompson, Larry Cannon, Shane Porter, Brandon King and Stevie McNabb. Honorary casketbearers were James King, Richard King, Danny King and Ricky King.
