Maynard Casey Stiles, Jr., age 89, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and husband of Mai Ida Moss Stiles, departed this life Saturday morning, November 18, 2017 at his residence surrounded by loved ones.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Stiles were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Bryan Morris officiating. He was assisted by family friends, William Smith and Michelle Ashley, and special music was provided by Rachel Morris, soloist. Interment followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Stiles was born May 26, 1928 in Blytheville, Arkansas. He received his education at Memphis State University and served his country in the United States Army. He was married September 4, 1953 to the former Mai Ida Moss and was a devoted employee with the City of Memphis and at the time of his retirement, was the Director of Fire. Mr. Stiles was a longtime resident of the Moscow area and was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow. He enjoyed reading, watching sports, politics, gardening and caring for his family.
Mr. Stiles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mai Ida Stiles of Moscow, TN; his sister, Virginia Towey of Whittier, CA; two grandchildren, Michelle Ashley (Jon) of Boston, MA, William Stiles of Kingwood, TX; and his daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Stiles of Kingwood, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard Casey Stiles, Sr. and Luberta Skelton Stiles and his son, Maynard Casey “Trey” Stiles III.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Will Stiles, Jon Ashley, Ralph Pollard, Bill Gill, Lyle Moss and Jimmy Moss.
