Melissa Jeanne (McRee) Walker

November 6, 1977 — January 3, 2012

Melissa Jeanne McRee Walker, age 34, resident of the Fayette Corner and Whiteville communities and wife of Jerry Walker died Tuesday morning, January 3, 2012 at Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown.

Services for Mrs. Walker will be at 2 Friday afternoon at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Interment will be private at a later date and there will be a visitation from 12 until 2 Friday afternoon at Peebles Main Chapel in Somerville.

Mrs. Walker was born November 6, 1977 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Connie Franklin McRee of Coker Creek, TN and Mary Catherine Stephenson Edwards of Fayette Corner. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a 1996 graduate of Fayette-Ware High School in Somerville.

Mrs. Walker enjoyed Twilight and Harry Potter movies and books, reading, solving puzzles, needlework, shopping, and her pet feline, Esme.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Walker is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Smith of Grand Junction; two brothers, Tony Pittman of Laconia, Timothy Pittman of Whiteville; a cousin she considered her sister, Jessica Parks of Fayette Corner; her maternal grandparents, Frances Blalock of Somerville, Waler Stephenson of Rossville, GA; her paternal grandmother, Louise McRee of New Augusta, MS; her niece, Samantha Hayes of Williston; seven nephews, Brandon Smith of Grand Junction, Devin Smith of Grand Junction, Logan Pittman of Whiteville, Tony Pittman, Jr. of Fayette Corner, Timothy Blake Pittman of Whiteville, Collin Pittman of Whiteville and Thomas Pittman of Fayette Corner.

Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, the late F.H. McRee.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 16845 Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
