Melvin Lee Forte, Sr.
April 19, 1949 — December 18, 2016
Melvin Lee Forte, Sr., age 67, resident of Rossville and husband of Geraldine Smith Forte, departed this life Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Forte were conducted at the 10 A.M. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Paul Null, Mr. Forte's brother-in-law, speaking. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Forte was born April 19, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was employed as a diesel mechanic for over 35 years before his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of the Shelby and Fayette County areas and enjoyed gardening, fishing, country music and for over 45 years, working with his hands.
Mr. Forte is survived by his wife, Geraldine Smith Forte of Rossville, TN; his daughter, Amy Dale Humble of Byhalia, MS; his son, Melvin Lee Forte, Jr. (Melinda) of Rossville, TN; two sisters, Charlotte Smith of Collierville, TN, Patricia Null (Paul) of Walnut, MS; and five grandchildren, Michael Lance Forte, Brittany Marie Humble, Jonathan Adams, Jessica Adams and James Humble.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee Forte and Hazel Laverne Brewer Forte and his sister, Joann Free.
