Michael Keith Kennedy, resident of the Henderson Community in Chester County with extended family members in Fayette and Hardeman Counties died Saturday morning, April 28, 2012 at his residence. He was 51 years of age and died following an illness of six months.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Kennedy were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, May 1st at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Pastor Brent Daniels of the Jacks Creek Apostolic Church near Henderson officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Kennedy was born April 4, 1961 in Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Lee Kennedy and Gloria Jean Cupples Kennedy. He received his education in the Decatur County, TN Public School System. He was a Christian and was employed in residential construction for much of his life before retiring 3 years ago for health reasons. He was married January 16, 2008 to the former Tiffany Ferguson, a native of Selmer, TN, who survives.
Mr. Kennedy will be remembered as an avid metal detector enthusiast and enjoyed all outdoor activities that included motorcycles, camping, fishing and visiting with relatives in the Whiteville and Somerville areas.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Kennedy is survived by three daughters, Chasity Burlison (Gary) of Henderson, Jackie Frees (Joshua) of Henderson, Nicolle Mullins (Danny) of Jackson, TN; five sons, Shannon Smith of Scottsville, KY, Shawn Harris (Christian) of Henderson, Jason Coy (Stacey) of Savannah, TN, Tollie Shelton (Keisha) of Selmer, TN, Zach Dixon of Tupelo, MS; his daughter-in-law, Misty Kennedy of Finger, TN; two sisters, Judy Kennedy of Henderson, Carla Moore (Junior) of Henderson; three brothers, Ricky Kennedy (Regina) of Henderson, Kenneth Kennedy (Deanna) of Henderson, Jeff Kennedy (Sharon) of Henderson; 20 grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his son, Steve Kennedy.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
