Michael Mitchell

Michael Thomas Mitchell, age 60, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Carol Mitchell, departed this life Wednesday evening, June 5, 2024 at his home.

Michael was born August 26, 1963 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Thomas V. and Barbara Mitchell. He graduated from Wooddale High School and was employed for over 20 years as a “meat technician” for Sam’s Club. He was married December 2, 2006 to Carol Jenkins Mitchell and was a member of Oakland Church of Christ. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and kayaking, and he loved his dogs, Denver and Tippy.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Carol Mitchell; two stepdaughters, Erin Canady and Brittany Watkins (Daniel); his stepson, Clayton Canady (Kate); his parents, Thomas V. and Barbara Mitchell; five grandchildren, Kayden Thearp, Dani Watkins, Lennox Canady, Porter Canady and Nolan Canady; three nieces, Lauren Mitchell, Myla Mitchell and Finley Mitchell; and two nephews, Andrew Mitchell (Mallori) and Baker Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Mitchell.

Funeral Services for Mr. Mitchell were held at 11 A.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Greg Artz, pastor of Oakland Church of Christ, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Andrew Mitchell, Clayton Canady, Daniel Watkins, Jacob Jenkins, Jason Hampton and Greg Mitchell.
