MICHAEL LEE PERRY, 65, resident of the Somerville Community, retired Memphis Fireman, US Air Force Veteran and husband of Denise Merideth Perry died June 14, 2010 at his home following an extended illness. Services will be at 2 PM Thursday at the Somerville First United Methodist Church. Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 10:30 AM Friday in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville, MO. A visitation for Mr. Perry will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. A devoted member of Somerville First United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men's Club, Mr. Perry had been a teacher in the Children's Sunday School department where he influenced the lives of many young people. He was member of the Memphis Methodist Conference Disaster Team before his illness. He joined the Memphis Fire Department in 1968 and served as a driver at Station 28 until his retirement as a Captain in 2001. He completed two tours of duty while serving in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era. In addition to his wife, Mr. Perry leaves a daughter, Michelle Cowell of Somerville, his loving grandchildren, Shana Elizabeth Cowell, Michael Wayne Cowell and Patrick Michael Davis. Brother of Deborah Lynn O'Brien (John) of Memphis and Francis Hamilton Perry, Jr. (Jan) of Collierville. Memorials are requested to First United Methodist Church, 202 S. East St., Somerville, TN 38068.
