1930—2011
Mildred Sweeton Manley, resident of the Bolivar Community and formerly of Grand Junction and Somerville departed this life at the Pine Meadows Nursing Center in Bolivar Sunday morning, January 2, 2011, where she had been a resident for four years. She was 80 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Manley were conducted at 3 P.M. Wednesday, January 5 th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Claudie Hammers, officiating. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery near Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Manley was born in Somerville on May 10, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Bishop Sweeton and Charles Sweeton. Mrs. Manley was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was married in 1946 to Robert Lee Manley, U. S. Veteran, who preceded her in death in 1990.
She was a former resident of Grand Junction, Tennessee and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Manley was a homemaker throughout her life and was a lifelong resident of Hardeman and Fayette Counties.   Her interests included flower and vegetable gardening, caring for her pets, cooking and attending yard sells.
Survivors of Mrs. Manley include her daughter: Connie Louise Smith of Hickory Valley, TN; her son: Robert Wayne Manley (Helen) of Middleton, TN; her sisters: Edna Sweeton of Bolivar, Frances Anthony of Bolivar; six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were J. R. Campbell, Chuck Lambert,
Jeremy Lambert, Timothy Lambert, Chad Sweeton and Lynyrd Young.
