Mr. Carroll "Pete" Lyndon Boyles

Carroll Lyndon "Pete" Boyles, age 84, resident of Oakland and husband of Gloria Boyles, departed this life Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2016 at his residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Boyles were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Carl Doyle officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Oakland City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Boyles was born December 6, 1931 in Alabama. He received his education in the Town Creek, Alabama School System and served his country in the United States Army during peacetime. He was married November 25, 1955 to the former Gloria Rice and they were residents of Memphis before moving to Oakland in 1971. Mr. Boyles was a member of the Oakland First Baptist Church and was a member of the Somerville Mason Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was employed as a truck driver for many years, was an employee for the Tennessee Valley Authority and at International Harvester as a maintenance man. He enjoyed riding four wheelers, motorcycles, hunting and collecting knives and guns.

Mr. Boyles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria Boyles of Oakland; his daughter, Janet Yeager (Tim) of Huntsville, AL; four sons, Marty Boyles of Oakland, Jim Boyles of Oakland, Tim Boyles (Lori) of Oakland, Barry Boyles of Oakland; his brother, Winford Boyles (Pat) of Moulton, AL; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Boyles, Sr. and Chelsea Blankenship Boyles; three sisters, Mattie Boyles, Bernice Roberts, Mable Pierce; and four brothers, Herschel Boyles, Luther Boyles, Jr., Wayne Boyles and Sam Boyles.

Pallbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Disabled Veterans of America, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301.
