MALCOLM REX CULVER, a resident of the Cayce Community near Byhalia, Mississippi, former resident of Fayette County and Truck Owner/Operator died Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at his residence. He was 58 years of age and died following a six-month, extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Culver were conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, October 3rd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Wayne Craig, of the Warren Community Church near Somerville officiating. He was assisted by Dr. Ken Culver, Pastor of the Warren Community Church. Interment followed in the Macon Cemetery at Macon, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Culver was born in Memphis, Tennessee on January 30, 1951 to his parents, Claudie C. Culver and Audrey Lucille Claunch Culver, who have both preceded him in death.
A former Somerville resident, he received his education in the Fayette County Public School System.
He later relocated to the Cayce Community near Byhalia, Mississippi.
A Truck Owner/Operator for many years, he later became involved in property management.
A member of the Macon United Methodist Church, Mr. Culver was a "people-person" who enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting the beach.
Survivors of Mr. Culver include his beloved companion, Karen Taylor of Byhalia, MS; his daughter, Stephanie G. Culver Skelton of Somerville; his son, Kevin D. Culver of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters: Charlene Glover (Vernon) of Somerville; Juanita Fitzgerald (James) of Walnut, MS and Mary E. Tatum (Buddy) of Somerville; three brothers: Troy Culver (Betty) of Somerville; Delbert Culver (Jean) of Millington and Jerry Wayne Culver of Oakland and three grandchildren: Dylan T. Skelton, Kayli G. Skelton and Jacob L. Skelton, all of Somerville.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Charles Tatum, Donald Tatum, Ronnie Glover, Timothy Fitzgerald, Eddie Fioretti and Keith Cints.
Honorary casket bearers were Jerry Wayne Culver, Troy Culver, Buddy Tatum and Bobby Cannon.
