Murray Cliff Davis, Jr., age 34, resident of the Somerville Community and Operator and Salesman for Kinematics Research in Oakland was called home to be with his Lord on Wednesday afternoon, January 5, 2011.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Davis were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, January 9th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Kenneth Culver, pastor of the Warren Community Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Perry Cemetery near Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Davis was born September 20, 1976 in Memphis, TN, the son of Murray Cliff Davis, Sr. and Cecelia Johnson Davis. He was a 1994 graduate of Fayette Academy in Somerville and continued his education at the University of Mississippi and the University of Memphis before returning to the Somerville area.
Mr. Davis was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed 4-wheeling, drag racing, boating and teaming with his father in area BBQ competitions. He was a member of the Somerville Moose Lodge and served as a Board Member for the Perry Cemetery Association.
Mr. Davis is survived by his parents, Cecelia and Murray Davis of District 15, his godparents, Andy and Debbie Stevens of Somerville, TN, his grandfather, Henry Cliff Davis of Bolivar, TN, his aunts, Shirley J. Stokes (Paul) of Eads, Frances Hubbard (Tracy) of Centertown, MO, Henrietta Lutes (Ron) of Marble Hill, MO and his uncle, Terry R. Davis (Kathy) of Somerville.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jay Glover, Don Harchfield, Jeremy Lipford, Shane Parks, Joel Peterson, Jarod Riles, Tommy Russell and John Sidney Sullivan.
Honorary casketbearers were Joshua Hubbard, Thomas Kee, Matthew Lutes, Ronnie Price and Chad Rhea.
