NANCY JUNE EVANS

March 6, 1944 — June 2, 2008

NANCY JUNE EVANS, a resident of the Hickory Withe Community in Fayette County and a former resident of Memphis and Lakeland, died at 8:17 P.M. Monday, June 2, 2008 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett. She was 64 years of age.

Funeral services for Miss Evans were conducted at 1 P.M. Thursday, June 5th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel near Oakland with the Rev. Terry Pergl, Pastor  of the Central Baptist Church in Memphis, officiating. Interment followed in the Forest Hill Cemetery Midtown on Elvis Presley Boulevard in Memphis.

Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.

Miss Evans was born March 6, 1944 in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the daughter of the late George Robert Evans, Jr. and the late Virdie Ann Griswell Evans. She was educated in the Memphis Public School System and was a resident of the Lakeland Community for 22 years before moving to Fayette County to reside with her sister.

Miss Evans was a person of faith who was a devoted member of the Central Baptist Church for over 50 years, and was a faithful member until her death. Her life was characterized by love for Christ and concern for her church and family.

Survivors of Miss Evans include her sister, Georgia Ann Benefiel of Hickory Withe and her half brother, Leroy "Pat" Noel of Memphis.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Bob Benefiel, Stephen Godman, Timmy Griggs, Tom Benefiel and Steven Rogers.
