Nancy (Thompson) Kee

June 7, 1930 — March 22, 2017

Nancy T. “MawMaw” Kee, lifelong resident of the Fayette County area, departed this life on Wednesday evening, March 22, 2017 at the NHC Nursing Home in Somerville, TN where she had been a resident for a short period of time. She was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Kee were conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Kevin Treadway of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Kee was born June 7, 1930 in Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Morrow Thompson. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married March 15, 1947 to Charlie M. Kee who preceded her in death on September 29, 2014. Mrs. Kee was a lifelong resident of the Fayette County area and was a member of the Somerville Church of God.

Mrs. Kee was a homemaker who had a love for cooking, family and making handmade quilts. She was well known for opening her home with great southern hospitality. If you left her house hungry, it was your own fault. She will be remembered for loving everybody and never meeting a stranger. She spent many years putting her talent into sewing her quilts that she passed on for cherished memories. She was a very Christian-like lady who believed in the Lord and always carried her faith with her.

Mrs. Kee is survived by two daughters, Margaret Whittemore (Gary) of Somerville, Shirley Weaver of Somerville; five sons, Charles Richard Kee of Somerville, Raymond Kee (Mary Ruth) of Somerville, Leslie Kee (Cathy) of Charleston, SC, Mark Kee of Somerville, Mike Kee (Jen) of Somerville; also, included Johnnie Pattat (Patti) that she always thought of as a son. She is also survived by two brothers, Alfred Thompson (Sheila) of Selmer, TN, Wilmer Thompson (Velma) of Oakland; 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family members, relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Gail Holley; her granddaughter, Amy Weaver; her great-granddaughter, Megan Johnson; and her brothers and sisters.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were her grandsons, David Wayne Cook, Richard Wayne Kee, Kenneth Grooms, Bo Kee, Robert “ReRun” Kee, Stevie Holley, Dustin Michael Kee and Patrick King. Honorary pallbearers were Billy Barnes, Wilmer Thompson, Alfred Thompson, Colby Kee, Kenny Kee, Justin Kee and Cody Kee.
