Nancy Murelle Neuman passed away peacefully at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville, Tennessee on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Nancy was born July 28, 1929 in Purdy, Tennessee, the daughter of Murray and Orelle Harris. She graduated from Memphis State with a B.S. in Business Administration. While attending college, she met her husband Colonel Arthur E. Neuman. Nancy ran her husband’s law office, retiring when she was 82. She was one of 25 young women chosen to be the most beautiful girls on Memphis State’s campus.

Nancy loved all animals and supported many animal rescues. She loved to entertain at home, hosting many parties. Her kind manner, quick wit and gracefulness will not be forgotten by those who loved her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Orelle Day Harris; her father, Murray Harris; her husband, Colonel Arthur E. Neuman; and her son, Karl Neuman.

She leaves behind her three cousins, Choppy Fowler Thompson, Georgette Fowler Turner and Allien Fowler Dacus.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Neuman will be at 1 P.M. Friday, April 11, 2025 at Union Cemetery in Laconia with Tom Pickering, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Somerville, officiating.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be John Dee Thompson, Bob Turner, Chuck Dacus, Dee Thompson and Chad Dacus.

The family requests that memorials be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 12940 S. Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
