Nancy Elizabeth Parks Smith, resident of the D
istrict 15 Community in Fayette County and wife of the late David Montell Smith
died November 26, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville. She was 90 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, November 29
th
at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Bob Cole, officiating. Interment followed in the Parks Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Smith was born in Hickory Valley, Tennessee on June 13, 1920, the daughter of the late, Aubrey Calvin Parks and Kate B. Earnest. She was educated in the Hickory Valley Public Schools System. She married on November 8, 1941, to David Montell Smith, Sr. who preceded her in death on January 3, 2006.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter Brenda Oliver (Larry) of Somerville, her son, David Smith (Shirley) of the District 15 Community, her sister, Geneva Parrish of Oakland, her grandchildren, Tim Oliver, Melissa Watkins, Leanne Ryan, Lindsey Smith, Casey Smith, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were
Terry Davis, Garner Houston, Patrick Ryan, Daniel Watkins, Michael Watkins and Patrick Watkins.
Honorary casketbearers were
Billy Barnes, Ray Dean Earnest and Joe Carl Earnest.
