NAOMI HARRISON LOW, a resident of the Oakland Community in Fayette County, and wife of the late Leon Low, died at 7:30 P.M. Friday, July 4, 2008 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for several weeks. She was 79 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Crypt-Side Services for Mrs. Low were conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 7th at the Memphis Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum on Raleigh-LaGrange Road, with the Rev. Jack Moore, Pastor of the Fisherville First Baptist Church, officiating. Special Remarks were also provided by Mrs. Low's nephew, the Rev. John Harrison. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Low was born August 19, 1928 in Manila, AR, the daughter of the late John Lee Harrison and the late Annie Free Pipkin Harrison. She moved with her family at an early age to West Tennessee and received her education in the Lauderdale County Public School System. She was married over sixty-two years to Leon Alvin Low, a retired Naval Veteran and employee of East Texas Motor Freight before his death on May 4, 2007.
Mrs. Low was a resident of Memphis for much of her life and after retirement lived in Ripley, Tennessee, before moving to Fayette County to be near her family. She was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed as a Department Manager for the Goldsmith's Department Store in downtown Memphis.
Mrs. Low was a lifelong Baptist and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church at Fisherville at the time of her death.
She enjoyed special times with her grandchildren and crocheting was a favorite pastime as long as health permitted. She received many hours of pleasure from the companionship of her pet dog, "Buffy".
Survivors of Mrs. Low include three daughters: Edna Ann Clift of Fulton, MS; Lois Naomi Bray (Larry) of Oakland and Julia Mae Crittenden of Fulton, MS; two sons, Larry Alvin Low (Sandra) of Southaven and John Leslie Low of Conroe, TX; her sister, Reba Clagg of Scurry, TX; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-granchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Larry Bray, Donald Crittenden, Josh O'Connor and Larry Bray, Jr.
