Nell Glean (Shutt) Neill

May 19, 1929 — December 22, 2015

Nell Glean Shutt Neill, age 86, resident of Somerville and wife of the late Floyd B. Neill, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, December 22, 2015 at the Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Neill were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel in Somerville.

Mrs. Neill was born May 19, 1929 in Savannah, Tennessee. She received her education in the Hardin County Public School System and was married July 18, 1947 to Floyd B. Neill. She was a resident of Fayette County for 62 years and a member of the Somerville First Baptist Church. Mrs. Neill was a homemaker throughout her life and enjoyed sewing. Raising her children was an important part of her life.

Mrs. Neill is survived by two daughters, Janie Harris (Tommy) of Somerville, Debbie Sue Neill of Somerville; her son, Ronnie Neill (Carol) of Somerville; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Neill of Somerville; her sister, Mary Neill of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Tammy Bowling (Will), Terri Harris, Justin Neill, Blake Neill (Delana), Seaton Neill, Wesley Smith (Lora), Lauren Hoskins; and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd B. Neill who died March 15, 2006; her parents, Wesley Glean Shutt and Alma Blanch Blount Shutt; her son, Donnie Neill; three sisters, Lois Rhea, Lessie Whitlow, Winnie Callaway; and her brother, Malone Shutt.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Justin Neill, Blake Neill, Seaton Neill, Wesley Smith, Brennan Bowling and Peyton Bowling.
