Nettie Lee Davis Osteen, resident of Adamsville, longtime resident of the Moscow Community and wife of the late Rev. L.T. Osteen departed this life Wednesday morning, August 7, 2013 at the Tri-County HealthCare Center in Adamsville where she resided for four years. She was 88 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services for Mrs. Osteen will be at 1 Friday afternoon at the Moscow Evangelical Full Gospel Church with visitation two hours before services. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Osteen was born May 9, 1925 in Middleton, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Davis and Annie Lee Crawford Davis. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and attended Middleton High School. She was married to the late Rev. L.T. Osteen, a retired minister for the Moscow Evangelical Full Gospel Church in Moscow. She was later married to the late Robert Skelton.
Mr. and Mrs. Osteen were two of the founders of the Moscow Evangelical Full Gospel Church in Moscow. She was one of the charter members of the Moscow Garden Club and a member of the Women's Club in Moscow. Mrs. Osteen will be remembered for taking pride in her appearance and for being "a true southern lady".
Mrs. Osteen is survived by her daughter, Betty Sue Berry of Adamsville; two grandchildren, Angela Rye of McEwen, TN, Sheila Parsons of Waverly, TN; two great grandchildren, Dustin Rye, Landon Parsons; and a special person who she considered as a daughter, Audrey Garvey of New York. She is also survived by her late husband, Robert Skelton's children, Jamie Boone, Bobbie Parks, Eugene Skelton, Jo Ann Skelton and Jimmy Skelton.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Joe Yager, Melvin Berry, Landon Parsons, Kendall Rye, Tommy Petrowski and Timmy Petrowski.
Honorary casketbearers will include Charles McElwee and J.T. Minor.
