Nina Mildred Daner Harvey, resident of Bentonville, Arkansas and wife of the late John Kirk Harvey who was a former resident of Somerville, departed this life Thursday morning, March 30, 2012 at the residence of her grandson in Bentonville. She was 95 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Harvey were conducted at 4 P.M. Wednesday, April 4th with remarks given by Jim Smothers of Oakland. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Harvey was born May 29, 1916, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Floy Daner. She moved at an early age with her parents to Charleston, Mississippi and received her education in the Charleston, Mississippi School System. She was married July 12, 1965 to John Kirk Harvey, a native of Somerville, who preceded his wife in death on January 15th of this year. Mr. Harvey was a United States Navy career person and the Harvey family resided in various United States locations during his military career. They were former residents of Bartlett and recently moved to Bentonville to be near their grandson.
A Christian, Mrs. Harvey will be remembered as a person who enjoyed caring for her yard, collecting coins and ceramics. She was the last survivor of her immediate family and leaves her grandson who also served as her caregiver, Manny Windham of Bentonville.
Friends served as pallbearers and the family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville City Cemetery Association, 13085 North Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068 or to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
