Norma Ruth (Goodrum) Williamson

July 14, 1931 — November 27, 2010

Norma Ruth Goodrum Williamson, resident of the Collierville Community and retired employee of the United States Postal Service died Saturday morning November 27, 2010 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for one week. She was 79 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Williamson were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, November 29 th at the Graveside with Rev. Loyd Shelton of Rossville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Selmer, Tennessee, Mrs. Williamson was born July 14, 1931. She was preceded in death by her parents John D. Goodrum and Ruth Massey Goodrum. Mrs. Williamson received her education in the McNairy Public School System and was a resident of Memphis before moving to Collierville sixteen years ago.
She served as a Human Resource Manager for the United States Postal Service for over twenty year before her retirement. Mrs. Williamson was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Williamson who died in 2006. She will be remembered as an avid walker who enjoyed food preparation and special times with her family.
Survivors of Mrs. Williamson include her daughter, Beverly Mercer of Collierville, her sister Johnnie Smith of Memphis, her two granddaughters Kara and Kelly Mercer of Collierville and one niece and two nephews.
