Ola Beatrice “Nanny” Duffel Garrison, resident of the Williston Community, retired warehouse manager for the Kellogg’s Corporation and wife of Kenneth H. Garrison died Saturday morning, January 26, 2013 at her residence. She was 79 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Garrison were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 29th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David Reeves of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville officiating. Special remarks and reflections were given by Bro. Ferrel Duffel and other family members. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Garrison was born August 1, 1933 in McCrory, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eual Guy Duffel and Minnie Lee Stoker Duffel. She received her education in the Rosebud, Arkansas Public School System and had been a resident of the Williston Community for the past 29 years. She was employed for over 30 years by the Kellogg’s Corporation and served as warehouse manager before her retirement.
She was a Baptist throughout her life and attended Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville. She was married April 14, 1950 to Kenneth Harris Garrison, who survives. Mrs. Garrison enjoyed special times with her grandchildren and family members and will be remembered as an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, ceramics, gardening and flower arrangements.
In addition to her husband of 62 years, Mrs. Garrison is survived by three daughters, Janice F. Baker of Horn Lake, MS, Sandra K. Sparkman (Michael) of Williston, Phyllis E. Kelman (Dave) of Collierville; her brother, Morris F. Duffel of Manila, AR; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Garrison was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Clark Kelman, Alex Everitt, Kevin Sparkman, Wayne Ladner, Dave Kelman, Gary McCaskill, Scott Rhodes and Michael Sparkman.
