OLIVIA JOYCE WILCOX

April 20, 1944 — August 11, 2008

OLIVIA JOYCE WILCOX, a resident of Memphis with extended family members in Fayette County, died at 6:20 P.M. Monday, August 11, 2008 at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for one day. She was 64 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Funeral services for Miss Wilcox were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 13th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel near Oakland with the Rev. Eddie Little, Pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. Special Remarks were given by Miss Wilcox's brother, Wally Wilcox. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Hickory Withe. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Miss Wilcox was born April 20, 1944 in Shelby County, the daughter of the late Robert Wilcox and Anna Van Soest Wilcox. She was a former resident of Donelson, Tennessee and had resided in the Memphis area for most of her life. She was a Christian and was one of "God's Special Children". Her interests included nature, out of door activities and traveling.

Survivors of Miss Wilcox include her sister, Bonnie Sowell (Lathan) of Hickory Withe; three brothers: Delton Wilcox (Donna) of Scotts Hill, TN; Elton Wilcox (Beth) of Collierville and Wallace Wilcox (Donna) of Germantown and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many caregivers throughout her life including members of the Shelby Rehabilitation Vocational Service.

Honorary casketbearers were friends and staff associated with the Shelby Rehabilitation Vocational Service.
