Ollie Mae (Cannon) York

June 21, 1937 — May 5, 2015

Ollie Mae Cannon York, age 77, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of Thomas L. "Tommy" York, departed this life Tuesday morning, May 5, 2015 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. York were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, May 7th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Jim Perry, pastor of the Family Worship Center in Moscow, officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Larry West, pastor of the Eagle Ministry House of Prayer in Somerville. Interment followed in the Perry Cemetery at Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. York was born June 21, 1937 in Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Wesley Cannon, Sr. and Vodie Holly Thompson Cannon. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She was married for 35 years to Thomas L. "Tommy" York, who survives. Mrs. York was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Somerville. She enjoyed working with flowers and drag racing.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. York is survived by four sons, William Wesley Lipford (Freda) of Willison, Jimmy Lipford (Judy) of Somerville, Stevie Lipford (Theresa) of Moscow, Jonathan Lipford (Becky) of Memphis; four sisters, Lorene King (Morris) of the Warren Community, Patricia Kimery (Ralph) of Moscow, Audrey McQueen (Ricky) of Williston, Sheila Eddington (Dennis) of Somerville; her brother, Aubrey Cannon (Linda) of Whiteville; her niece, Penny Gosser of Somerville; and a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Cannon, Jr., Luther "Arice" Cannon and Jessie Cannon.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were James Lipford, Timmy Lipford, Jeremy Lipford, Elijah Lipford, Bobby Eddington and Eric Eddington.
