Opal Von Frame Jennings, age 94, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and wife of the late Wilburn Mark Jennings, Sr., departed this life Friday evening, December 13, 2019 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.
Opal was born July 7, 1925 in Cowen, West Virginia, the daughter of Patrick Byrne Frame and Manza Jenkins Frame. She received her education in Beaufort, South Carolina and was married May 11, 1946 to Wilburn Mark Jennings, Sr. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Baptist Church of Beaufort. Opal was a resident of Somerville for 30 years and was a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed quilting, ceramics and especially family and friends. Opal loved life, was generous with her love and opened her home to all.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by two daughters: Donna Ann DeGroff (Jim) of Memphis, TN, Suzette Jennings of Ridgeland, MS; two sons: Wilburn Mark Jennings, Jr. of Somerville, TN, Dale Jennings (Melanie) of Oakland, TN; seven grandchildren: Zachary DeGroff, Kelley Strickland, David Bernheim, Nathaniel Bernheim, Lydia Jennings, Michelle Guthrie, Ross Guthrie; and eight great-grandchildren: Isaac DeGroff, Ella DeGroff, Lucas Jennings, Wyatt Strickland, Maggie Strickland, Natalie Turk, Zy Greenwood, and Bree Ella Greenwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Mark Jennings, Sr. who died July 26, 2010; her parents, Patrick Byrne Frame and Manza Jenkins Frame; and her son, James Patrick Jennings who died January 3, 2016.
Funeral Services for Opal will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Dave Biter officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. A visitation for Opal will be from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jim DeGroff, Zach DeGroff, David Bernheim, Nathaniel Bernheim, Mike Yates and Richard Kilgore. Honorary pallbearers will be James Jamerson, Ross Guthrie, Danny Frame, and Ralph Fulwider.
