Opal Genedor White Warf, resident of the Williston Community and wife of the late Robert Eugene Warf, departed this life Saturday afternoon, December 28, 2013 at her residence. She was 81 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Warf were conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, December 31st at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Kevin Treadway of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery at Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Bolivar, Mrs. Warf was born November 5, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Harrison White and Vera King White and was the last of five children. She received her education in the Tennessee and Arkansas Public School Systems and continued her education for nurse’s training at the Tennessee Technology Center at Whiteville. She was a homemaker throughout her life and was also employed by the National HealthCare Center in Somerville for a number of years before her retirement.
Mrs. Warf was a member of the Williston Baptist Church and was married in 1950 to Robert Eugene Warf, an employee of the Troxel Company in Moscow and the International Harvester Company in Somerville, before his death in 1999. She was a resident of the Whiteville Community before moving to the Williston Community a number of years ago and will be remembered as a person who enjoyed all things outdoors. Flower and vegetable gardening and feeding birds with a special love for hummingbirds were favorite pastimes. Mrs. Warf never met a stranger and was an avid conversationalist who enjoyed animals of all kinds that included her constant companion in recent years, “Baby Kitty”.
Mrs. Warf is survived by two sons, Harry Eugene Warf (Debra) of Williston, Kenneth Clyde Warf (Wendy) of Williston; three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Donnie Warf, Reno Tice, Tommy Petrowski, Tommy Lanzarotto, Josh Lanzarotto and Keith Cannon.
