Ouida Ann Rawlings Holt, resident of the Piperton Community in Fayette County, retired secretary and wife of Jerry Thomas Holt, Sr. died Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2012 at the Methodist Hospital in Germantown where she had been a patient for one day. She was 74 years of age and died following an illness of eight months.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Holt were conducted at 3 P.M. Thursday, November 8th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Bobby O’Dell of the Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Cordova officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — Piperton Office.
Mrs. Holt was born February 14, 1938 in Pleasanton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olin Rawlings and Tillie Mae Byars Rawlings. She received her education in the Harris County, Texas Public School System and was a graduate of the Galena Park High School in Texas. She was married May 15, 1956 to Jerry Thomas Holt, Sr., a retired vending company owner, who survives.
Mrs. Holt was employed by the Alpha Resins in Piperton for a number of years before her retirement eight years ago. She was a member of the Woodland Hills Church of Christ. She was a former Sunday School teacher and received much pleasure from sewing, canning vegetables, family vacations and activities with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, Mrs. Holt is survived by her daughter, Judy H. Sanders (James) of Oakland; two sons, Jerry Thomas Holt, Jr. (Suzanne) of Jackson, TN, David Holt (Susan) of Somerville; two sisters, Arlene Rogers of Houston, TX, Lynda Turner (Joe) of Houston, TX; her sister-in-law, Mary Rawlings of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Rawlings.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Corey Turner, Clay Turner, Mike Rogers, Mark Rogers, Bobby Holt and Ean Holt.
Honorary casketbearers were John Green and Cathy Dandridge.
