Pamela Joyce “Pam” Hopper Dowland, age 61, resident of Collierville and wife of Charles A. Dowland, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, December 13, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Dowland were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Dowland was born March 2, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of the Memphis and Collierville areas. Mrs. Dowland was married April 19, 1974 to Charles Albert Dowland and she was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers and Mickey Mouse was her favorite Disney character.
Mrs. Dowland is survived by her husband of 42 years, Charles A. Dowland of Collierville, TN; her daughter, Amy Jennings (Kevin) of Titusville, FL; her son, Joshua Dowland (Amber) of Mililani, HI; her sister, Patricia Hopper Ellis (Kirby) of Hickory Withe, TN; two brothers, Kenny Hopper (Connie) of Olive Branch, MS, D.V. Hopper of Memphis, TN; and two granddaughters, Ava Jennings and Amy Dowland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Virgil Hopper, Sr. and Fannie Louise “Fay” Cockrell Hopper.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Brian Dowland, Jim Woods, Kevin Shelton, Manse Burgin, Kirby Ellis and Jordan Ellis. Honorary pallbearers included Adam Reisinger.
