Pastor Jimmy Lee Greer, age 83, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Mrs. Carlene Holland Greer, departed this life Tuesday morning, January 8, 2019 at his residence.
A Celebration of Life Service for Pastor Greer was held at 1 P.M. Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Hope Recovery Center located at 1925 Highway 18 in Medon, Tennessee. A private interment was in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery at Oakland. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel in Somerville.
Jimmy was born October 10, 1935 in Bemis, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie Bertrum Greer and Grace Viola Austin Greer. He was a graduate of J.B. Young High School in Bemis and served as the pastor at Grey's Creek Church in Cordova for over 40 years. Pastor Jimmy Greer was married September 4, 1954 to the former Carlene Holland and they were former residents of the Memphis area before moving to Somerville in 1997. He was very active with the Hope Recovery Center in Medon, Tennessee, where he served as their chaplain before “semi-retiring”.
Pastor Jimmy Greer is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Carlene Holland Greer of Somerville, TN; three daughters, LeAnne Greer Fryman (Jimmy) of Cordova, TN, Jeanie Greer Ferguson of Somerville, TN, Candace Greer Barber (Roy) of Collierville, TN; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Greer McClanahan.
