Patricia Ann "Pat" Hollingsworth German, longtime resident of the Williston Community, employee of Wal-Mart at Collierville and wife of Kennie L. German, Jr. , died at 4 A.M. Friday, April 4, 2008 at her residence on Hwy. 76 South. She was 63 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. German were conducted at 3 P.M. Sunday, April 6th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Thomas Foy, pastor of the Piperton Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston.
Mrs. German was born June 11, 1944, in the Moscow Community of Fayette County, the daughter of the late Hugh Hollingsworth and the late Annell Gaither Hollingsworth. She was educated in the Fayette County public school system and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville, Class of 1962.
Mrs. German was married June 15, 1963, to Kennie L. German, Jr. of Fayette County who served as Superintendent of the Somerville Light, Gas & Water Department before his retirement.
Mrs. German was of the Baptist faith and will be remembered for her strong Christian faith during her extended illness. She was employed by the Troxel Manufacturing Company in Moscow in earlier years and was employed as a cashier for the Wal-Mart Corporation in Collierville until the time of her death.
A person devoted to her family, Mrs. German held a special closeness to her grandchildren and preparing food for holiday activities. She was a people person throughout her life and was an active person who enjoyed staying busy and traveling as long as health permitted. She was a lifelong resident of Fayette County.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. German is survived by children, Melissa Cannon (Randy) of Williston and Alan German (Beverly) of Williston; her sister, Bertha Novak (Harry) of Two Rivers, WI; four grandchildren, Brittany German, Abbey German, Kacey Cannon, Maggie Cannon; and a special step-mom, Margaret Hollingsworth of Arlington.
She is also survived by a niece, Kim Novak Silbersack, a nephew, Michael Novak; and a great-nephew, Craig Novak.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jerry Russell, Jimmy Umbarger, James Taylor, Joe Houston, Tommy McCaskill and Bobby German.
